Harpenden JKA trains on Tuesdays from 7.00 pm to 8.30 pm and Thursdays from 6.00 pm to 7.00 pm (beginners, juniors, and improvers) and 7.10 pm to 8.40 pm (intermediate/ advanced students). The dojo is on the First Floor at Batford Methodist Church, Lower Luton Road, Harpenden AL5 5AH, nearly opposite Tesco Express and with free parking opposite the Malta pub in Southview Road.

PLEASE NOTE: THE DOJO IS CLOSED FROM 7 FEBRUARY TO 9 FEBRUARY AND TRAINING WILL CONTINUE ON TUESDAY 14 FEBRUARY we do not close for half term!

The instructor is Sensei Simon Marchant-Jones, 3rd dan, and the club is affiliated to the Japan Karate Association (JKA).

NEXT JKA ENGLAND COURSE
The next JKA National Course for ALL GRADES will be on Sunday 19 February at 11 am at Bath Sports and Leisure Centre, North Parade Road, Bath, BA2 4ET. It is very important that students attend the JKA National Courses, especially for brown belts who intend to take the shodan (black belt) test.

IMPORTANT! JKA INTERNATIONAL SPRING COURSE AT K2, CRAWLEY ON 4-7 MAY 2012
This year we have the fantastic opportunity to learn from FOUR senior Japanese Instructors. Accompanied by Sensei Ohta, 7th Dan Chief Instructor of JKA England, will be Sensei Tsuyama 8th Dan, Sensei Osaka 8th Dan, and Sensei Hirayama 6th Dan.

Tsuyama Sensei, 8th Dan
Tsuyama Sensei was the Chief Instructor at Takushoku University and taught Ohta Sensei. Tsuyama Sensei was also the Head Coach of the Japan National Karate Team.

Osaka Sensei, 8th Dan
Vice Chief Instructor JKA Japan; in the All Japan Karate Championships Osaka Sensei was Tournament Grand Champion in 1978 and 1979, and first in kata from 1980 to 1983! His motto is "Always do your best and let fate do the rest".

Hirayama Sensei, 6th Dan
First in kumite in the All Japan Karate Championships 2002; her motto is "Seize the moment", Hirayama Sensei visited us in 2008.

Ohta Sensei, 7th Dan
Need I say any more? Our own Chief Instructor - a superb instructor with a great sense of humour.
